Title I of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA/ESEA) is a federal funding program designed to close achievement gaps and ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.
Many schools receiving Title I Part A funding operate Schoolwide Programs, implementing overall school improvements to ensure that systems, practices, and programs are effectively aligned to reduce gaps and support every student’s achievement.
School-wide Programs in the AASD identify a vision for students’ academic and socioemotional success and align school improvement plans to this vision. Such programs also articulate a plan to engage parents and caregivers as stakeholders in their children’s education and in the implementation of a Title I school improvement plan.
LITERACY
By June 2026, 65% of students who are two or more years behind in reading, as identified by the Fall 2025 iReady Reading assessment, will achieve their stretch growth targets through consistent use of Lexia as a targeted intervention.
Aligned action steps:
- 100% of identified students are enrolled and actively using Lexia.
- At least 80% of identified students meet Lexia usage fidelity (minutes/units per week).
- Teachers review Lexia data monthly to inform instruction.
MATH
By June 2026, 65% of students who are two or more years behind in math, as identified by the Fall 2025 iReady Math assessment, will achieve their stretch growth targets through consistent use of data digs and targeted intervention.
Aligned action steps:
- Teachers review data weekly to inform instruction.
- Intervention team identifies and supports students not meeting progress benchmarks.
- Individual intervention plans are adjusted for students off track.
SEL
By June 2026, we will improve student emotional regulation and conflict resolution skills by implementing universal instruction, targeted supports, and staff development. As a result, we will achieve a 20% reduction in Office Discipline Referrals (ODRs) for disruption and refusal to comply, a 50% reduction in ODRs for fighting, and a 20% increase in students’ perceived sense of school safety as measured by the Panorama survey.
Aligned action steps:
- Implement and teach a student conflict reporting system
- Implement Character Strong to introduce common language for supporting students who are struggling
- Behavioral staff will use restorative practices
